Arthritis is a common condition that causes pain and inflammation in a joint. The ailment affects people of all ages, including children. Arthritis affects the musculoskeletal system and in severe cases may result in disability. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis with osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease) being the most common. It is commonly caused by trauma to the joint, infection of the joint or age. Some of the forms of arthritis are Septic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and related autoimmune diseases.
Joint pain is the major problem faced by people suffering from arthritis. Pain is often localized and persistent. This is due to the inflammation around the joint, joint damage due to diseases, wear and tear of joint due to daily life, muscle strains and fatigue. Arthritis may be caused due to genealogy, obesity, gender (women are more prone to suffer from it) or due to a previous joint injury.
