Jow Barley Grains

Barley Grains or Jow is auspicious and a symbol of prosperity, abundance, growth, fertility and an integral part of Puja rituals and Hawan. During the festival of Navratri, Jow seeds are sown in an earthen pot and sprouted as a part of the Navratri Puja rituals to bring in the blessings of abundance and happiness.
 
The Skanda Purana mentions a story which says that offering Jow Barley grains, to Lord Shiva helps to absolve sins.
