This form of the Goddess is often offered leftover food or partially consumed food. The offerings made to this form of Matangi are mainly performed by left hand. She is often associated with inauspiciousness, pollution and impurity. However, in Her Raja -Matangi form which is one of the most popular forms, the Goddess is pictured playing the Veena instrument and is shown flanked by parrots on either side. She is said to represent the 64 arts. She presides over planet Mercury who governs intelligence.
