The deer that holds the musk pods roams for miles in search of the source of the fragrance without knowing that it emanates from his own body. Similarly a human being searches whole life for happiness and truth not realising that it is within him only. Offering musk oil to Shivalinga holds high merit and elevates the devotee towards spiritual growth.

Application:

You may offer the oil directly to the deity idol or Yantra during abhishek.
Mix few drops of the oil in the abhishek water or milk to make it fragrant before offering to the deity.
Take few drops in a small piece of cotton or on a flower and offer to the deity.
