Red sandalwood, also known as Raktha Chandan is one of the various types of sandalwood. Red sandal wood gets its name from its color. It lacks the fragrance, which is the most basic characteristic of commonly used sandalwood. But it has many cosmetic and medicinal uses, just like that of regularly used sandalwood. This is mixed in water and offered to Sun early morning while offering salutations to Surya God.
