Shanivar Vrat Katha is dedicated to Shani Dev, the most powerful of all Navgrahas. The Shanivar Vrat Katha helps keep away misfortunes and reduces mental stress and induces optimism. During the Shanivar Vrat Katha black flowers, black sesame seeds (til), horse bean (black urada) and black clothes are used for worship. A special Saturn idol made of iron is made and is worshipped and is finally donated. Shanivar (Saturday) is dedicated to Shani Devta (Saturn) on this day black colored clothes are worn and salt is avoided. Devotees also feed ants with whole wheat flour.
