Silver Or Gold Cow Service

Description

Daan or donation is one of the methods by which an individual can pay his karmic debt and seek liberation. Just as gau-daan or donation of a cow is considered most beneficial and meritorious, so is daan of a Silver and Gold Cow idol to a poor Brahmin too.

In the Silver and Gold Cow Service symbolic cows of silver and gold are made and donated to a pundit. Cows are deemed sacred in Hindu tradition and dharma. The all-giving and gentle nature of the cow is glorified in many scriptures.

Cow-derived products such as milk, ghee, curd, urine, and dung are beneficial and sacred, and are used in Puja and Yajna rituals. Cows are also adored in the heavens; Kamdhenu or Surabhi is the Divine cow that fulfils all the wishes of Her devotees. By donating a Silver or Gold Cow one derives equivalent benefits that of Gau daan and can also have peace of mind about the wellbeing of the cow.
