Description
The Somvar Vrat (fast) and Katha are done on Mondays and are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. The Skanda Purana states that anybody who desires happiness and prosperity should fast and worship Lord Shiva on Mondays. It’ s stated that whoever fasts and worships Lord Shiva on Mondays in the Vedic and traditional way will achieve their objectives and will never be deprived of praise and success. The Panchokshari Mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” should be repeated on this day. The Somvar Vrat Katha is a story about Lord Shiva, Maa Parvati and a temple priest.
