Goddess Annapurna Chalisa is a devotional hymn of 40 verses dedicated to worship and venerate Goddess Annapurna. Annapurna Devi is considered the goddess of food; Her name means the one who fulfills with food. Goddess Annapurna is an incarnation of Mother Parvati. Even Lord Shiva had to once worship Goddess Annapurna Devi and seek Her blessings to end scarcity of food in Kashi. Lord Shiva then praised Annapurna Devi that even His five mouths are not enough to sing praises of Her. As per scriptures there is never a scarcity of food and wealth wherever Goddess Annapurna is worshipped. Goddess Annapurna is also worshipped for wish fulfillment and success in various endeavors.
