His three heads are carved in detail, and each head has His hair piled up on it. His lowest right hand is raised in Abhaya mudra, a posture of blessing. In His others hands He is holding the Damru, the Sudarshan Chakra, a Lotus, a Trishul and in His lowest left hand He is holding a Kamandal, a water pot. Lord Dattatreya’s cow is said to be the celestial wish fulfilling Kamdehnu. There are four dogs who are always seen in images of Lord Dattatreya which symbolize the four inner instincts of desire, lust, expectation, and thirst.
