Description

Gau Bhagwat Katha is recited to venerate and revere Gau Mata. Gau Bhagwad Katha details the significance of cows in Hindu Dharma and various stories and legends dedicated to Gau Mata in various Puranas and scriptures.

In the Vedas the holy cows are equated with Goddess Aditi, the mother of Gods. In Bhagavata Purana and Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Krishna has stated His love for the cows. He stated that in Kali yug when Dharma will decline and Dharmic rituals will get diluted then a devotee can worship Him by caring for cows as taking care of cows will be equivalent to worshiping Him.

Lord Krishna has also spoken about the significance of the holy cow in the Srimad Bhagwad Gita. The all-giving and gentle nature of the cow is glorified in many Vedic scriptures. Cow-derived products such as milk, ghee, curd, urine, and dung are beneficial and sacred, and are used in Puja and Yajna rituals.

Cows are also adored in the heavens; Kamdhenu or Surabhi is the Divine cow that fulfills all the wishes of Her devotees. Reciting the Gau Bhagwat Katha blesses a devotee with peace of mind, prosperity and growth.
