Description
This hand carved Lord Hayagreeva murti (idol) is made from a genuine, single piece Shaligram stone. The Lord is in sitting Padmasana posture, holding a book in His left hand while His right hand is raised in the Abhaya mudra (posture), blessing and reassuring His devotees. The two upper arms hold the Shankh and Sudarshan Chakra. The detailing of the Horse face of the Lord is praise worthy. The back of the idol has naturally formed spiral fossil mark , which is a signature mark of a genuine Shaligram stone.
Lord Hayagreeva is a lesser known avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Hayagreeva has the head of a Horse and the body of Lord Vishnu. He is worshipped for blessings of intelligence, knowledge of all kinds, education. It is said, chanting the 108 names of Lord Hayagreeva helps to increase memory power. Legend has it that He is the Guru of Goddess Sarawati, the Goddess of education and knowledge.
