Description

Mumbadevi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Mumba, the local incarnation of the Goddess Shakti (Mother Goddess). The original Mumbadevi Temple dates back to the 16th century, the temple was shifted and rebuilt a few times in the course of history. Today it is one of the most iconic and oldest temples in the city of Mumbai. The city of Mumbai has derived its name from the temple. Devotees believe that Mumbadevi always fulfills the wishes of devotees who pray at the temple with devotion. As per legends, Mumbadevi, an eight-armed Goddess was sent by Lord Brahma to vanquish an evil demon Mumbaraka.
