About Santoshi Mata | Santoshi Mata Chalisa Paath Significance
Goddess Santoshi is the daughter of Lord Ganesha and is highly revered in the Northern part of India as the ‘Goddess who brings Happiness and satisfaction’. The word ‘Santoshi’ literally translates to ‘one who brings satisfaction’. Maa Santoshi is the Goddess who is known to remove all the sorrows from the life. She also wards off all negative energies, evil eye and blesses Her devotees with happiness, prosperity and good health. Maa Santoshi is known to be the soft and kind form of Goddess Durga. She is known to be quiet, calm, kind, generous, benevolent, and forgiving. She blesses her devotees with a calm mind and removes ego and pride. She often protects Her devotees from the evil schemes of their opponents and offers them peace. She offers relief from tension & stress.
According to Her iconography, Maa Santoshi is portrayed wearing a red saree, seated in the Padmasana pose. She has four hands; the upper left and right hand hold a sword & trident respectively whereas the lower left hand holds a plate & lower right hand is in Varada Mudra. She wears garland of flowers and gold ornaments around Her neck, arms, wrist and waist. She also wears a beautiful Golden Crown.
