Sheetala Mata, often referred to as Maa Shitala is an incarnation of Maa Durga. She is the Goddess who rules diseases of small pox, poxes, sores, fever and all heat related ailments. She is also worshipped for relief from all miseries and sorrows, as She blesses Her devotees with abundance. Sheetala Mata is worshipped with much gusto on Sheetala Asthami, which is celebrated on the eighth day after Holi. With the onset of summer, Sheetala Mata is worshipped for protection against season ailments. As per legends Maa Katyayani took manifestation of Sheetala Mata to rid the world of all fevers and diseases. The glory and stories of Sheetala Mata are part of many Vedic scriptures including the Skanda Purana. The name Sheetala means ‘the cooling one’, She is mostly depicted mounted on Her Vahana a donkey, She has four arms carrying broom, bowl, fan and a pot of water. She sweeps diseases and ailments with Her broom, uses the fan to collect the diseases causing germs and dumps them in the bowl and uses Gangajal from the pot to purify the household. Sheetala Mata Puja and Yagna is done to get relief from health issues, financial miseries, mental agony of any kind and protection against heat, accidents, explosion and fire.

You may connect with the priest during the puja (video or phone call) on WhatsApp or Skype and watch the rituals live. Puja Tokri having prasad, energized Rudraksha, silver tabeez and yantra would be sent along. Rudra Centre priests will perform Sheetala Mata Puja as per Vedic rituals based on birth details.
