Srimad Bhagavatam is also known as Bhagavat Purana as it is one of the eighteen Puranas. The Srimad Bhagavat was revealed by Sukadeva Goswami, son of Ved Vyasa to King Parikshit. The Srimad Bhagavatam contains eighteen thousand verses and is considered as essence of all Vedas and Upanishads.
 
Reputed to be ‘the ripe fruits of the tree of Vedic literature’, Srimad-Bhagavat is the most complete and definitive article of Vedic information. It blankets everything from the nature of the self to the beginning of the universe, and touches upon all fields of information.
 
Significance of Shrimad Bhagvat Katha Saptah:
 

  • Shrimad Bhagvat Katha Saptah is a seven days path dedicated to Lord Krishna. The shrimad Bagwat katha consists of all the knowledge about the life of lord Krishna. There are 18000 mantras in the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, which are related to the Bhagwat Mahapuran.
  • The bhagwat kaths is performed with full faith and devotion towards Lord Krishna. On the last day of the katha, a yagya is performed that mark the ending of this auspicious Vedic scripture. This yagya is also helpful in gaining grah shanti. The Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Saptah lasts for seven days and blesses the devotees with the blessings of Lord Krishna.
  • The remembrance of Lord Krishna lotus feet destroys the inauspicious events from the life of the devotees and brings greatest fortune. It helps in purifying the heart and soul of the person. The person who hears the Bhagwatam on ekadasi is blessed with long life.
